GEITA

The Diocese of Geita was established in 1985. During this time the number of Catholics was 70,000 out of a population of 743,312. Now the number of Catholics is 350,000 out of 1,470,653 people. (2012 census)

The Diocese of Geita is located on the southwest shore of Lake Victoria, the third largest lake in the world. The Diocese covers an area of 9037 sq.km. The diocese includes two administrative Districts, Sengerema and Geita.
